WHY SHOULD WE VOTE ON NOVEMBER 2, 2010?
RockMasters entertainment received the reality joke among the 100's of e-mails that we receive daily. True it is funny, but it describes the reality of the upcoming Midterm elections in the US so well that it made me more determined to vote on Nov. 2. So I decided to share it with my Haitian subscribers in the hope that it might motivate you also. Read on...
===================================
A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him:
"Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.
She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be an Obama Democrat."
"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "Everything you told me is technically correct. But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."
The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican."
"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"
"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are -- or where you are going. You've risen to where you are , due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."
Comment:
You are hearing from political pundits that the party of President Obama, the Democratic Party will not do well during the upcoming election. Its an easy call based on historical fact (the party in power always loses seats). A big reason according to a poll by the Pew Trust is that we (minorities) tend to not vote in mid-term elections. Lets change that.
Its clear to me that the Republican party has no interest in helping the President fix the economy or anything else, and if they regain power the country will be in far worse shape.
Further I think we all know that the withering attacks that this President faces daily are racially motivated. In spite of how the media coaches their words we know that white (tea party) America does not believe he should be President under any circumstances.
The President has done some good things and he deserves our support.
Encourage your friends and family to vote this midterm. Send this email if you think it will help.
Polls don't vote, People do!

The president is not running, congress is! ask yourself a simple question "what has your congressman do for you lately?" All politics is local! I have just lost my home! They did nothing to help me. they sure helped my bank!
ReplyDeleteTrue BlogHaiti, but politics at the local level is influenced by legislative decisions in congress. So if the president and congress are ineffective, so will your local politics. So you need to have the right people in capital hill to defend your local causes. Not voting leaves someone else to decide for us.
ReplyDeleteI cannot agree more! I hope everybody that receive this email forward it to 10 more Haitians. I have to help 200 people to vote. If anyone who receive the email help at least 5 people for the Haitian's interest, we will have the victory, despite the other party propaganda.
ReplyDeleteHow true this is. We Haitians tend to be laid back and complain when nothing happens for us. I like this blog initiative RockMaster
ReplyDeleteBlogHaiti - I hear you, so are you planning to vote?
Thank you for this timely commentary. This is no joke, it encapsulates very nicely the essence of the Tea Party/Republicans mantra. There are no options left on the table over who and how we should vote!!! It is imperative that we not allow "those people" to warm any seat in congress. I am spreading the "GET OUT & VOTE" word to any and everyone that will listen. I am also working in my local polling place on Election Day. THIS IS A CRITICAL ELECTION. WE MUST NOT ALLOW THE REPUBLICANS TO HAVE THE KEYS TO THE CAR!!!
