Haitian Women Insulted on HOT 97 Show - Quote: “The Reason I’m H.I.V negative is cause I don’t mess w/ Haitian girls”

Reported by chimovement.com - Edited by RockMasters.com

This is the ultimate insult to our Haitian Women

Last Friday on Hot 97′s “The Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg Show” with Cipha Sounds, Peter Rosenberg and K. Foxx, Cipha made some derogatory, offensive comments towards Haitian people. Haitian women to be exact. Cipha said and we quote, “The Reason I’m H.I.V negative is cause I don’t mess w/ Haitian girls

The Haitian community was not please with his comments and took to the phone lines, calling up the radio station. At first, callers thought Peter Rosenberg made the comments, accusing him of being a racist and demanding his departure from the radio station. It was revealed, Cipha Sounds made the actual comments which also caused a wildfire on Twitter with people tweeting in, making threats and demanding the disc jockey apologizes.

Haitian Fresh went in on Cipha Sounds on Twitter, expressing how Haitian people been through a lot, especially this year with the earthquake, cholera outbreak and the recent riots due to the elections. He expressed Cipha Sounds comments were not only offensive but hurtful, saying the Haitian community is a big supporter of Hot 97 and Cipha’s comments were irresponsible.

Cipha Sounds was on Twitter also, trying to apologize to the Haitian community, admitting it was a stupid joke and how he (as he said it) f*cks with Haitian heavy. Cipha Sounds couldn’t even spell Haitian , if you going to insult Haitians at least spell it right.

Cipha Sounds and Hot 97′s “Morning Show” released a video on the Net of Cipha apologizing to the Haitian community and taking full responsibilities for his comments. And he posted it on You Tube, shared it with his fans on Facebook and tweeted it to his followers on Twitter. Check out thejavascript:void(0) videos.

With all the negative and unfortunate incidents and disasters affecting Haitian people recently and the continuous negative portrayal of Haiti in the press, the one treasure that we, as Haitians hold dearly with pride and honor is our women. It is the one treasure that we will not negotiate nor allow anyone to trample upon or to use as a comedy line.
So RockMasters Entertainment ask all its members, subscribers and the public in general to attend the press conference below in full force and send a strong message "Don't mess with our women"

  1. This is not a joke and this is not funny. We fought and won the AIDS battle years ago. We aint taking this. Apologies not accepted.

  2. We all must demand that the station suspend this gentlemen to show that they do not condone such liberties from their radio personalities. This is very hurtful and outright dangerous to label an entire community (Haitian women) as HIV carriers, in 2010. Anyone who calls this statement a "joke," is ignorant and should not be on the radio, unless he receives some serious training on how to behave in society. No community should be subjected to such anti-social and ignorant treatment from a radio station. I am certain that he would not have even dreamed of saying something remotely as derogatory about the Jewish communities of New York. He knows full well that his joke days would have been over, and for the right reason. The Haitian community deserves no less. There should be no tolerance or justification for this kind of trash.

The management of the radio station, itself, acted with no respect for the Haitian community. The station should receives absolutely NO credit for showing this "half-assed you tube video" as a personal apology from the host to the community. What about the Station itself, is it at all responsible?

This guy even said that he was apologizing because, the callers thought it was "Rosemberg" who made the racist comment. So his "rant" on the video was simply to absolve this "Rosemberg" (probably his superior - or maybe he was just forced to offer an apology) and not a real expression of regret for his obvious ignorance. The station should not be absolved of all blames. They allowed it. They cannot stay away and claim that they had nothing to do with it. The show hosts operate on their watch and they KNOW that they have a responsibility to monitor what is broadcasted every second of every show. The Federal Communication Commission (The "FCC") makes no excetions.

  3. How about a campaign to get Haitians (as many as possible, ideally all of 1 or 2 millions in the US diaspora) to make a commitment not to purchase any product from any brand that advertises on Hot 97 until that clown is shown the door. If a campaign is systematically organized by a coalition of established community organizations with a clearly stated goal (e.g. boycott to last through Feb 1) and said brands are individually contacted and convinced we mean business, we’ll probably get result fast.

Perhaps Rockmasters can get the ball rolling.

  5. I am an HIV negative Haitian American who use to listen to this Hot 97 morning show on a pretty regular basis. I am sick of the racist jokes so many tend to make regarding Haitians. Btw, what's funny about HIV? I will not support the works of an ignorant racist. Its funny how comfortable people like Cipha can be with certain communities. Why didn't he make that same comment referencing Latina women instead or Jewish women? He didn't because he knew he wouldn't be able to get away with it as easily. Disgraceful.

  6. That guy should be fired from his post immediately and he is a dummy for saying that because white people are a large number of people walking around w/ AIDS. We ought to boycott that station.

  7. Gina JH.. That was an insensitive, careless comment that has consequences and needs to address with appropriate affirmative action. There is nothing funny about your ignorant remark. Do not call "Haitians" people your people. A simple apology is adding insult, and it would be dignified to remove yourself from the public eyes.
With respect, we need to maintain professionalism!

  10. Thank you for your well documented and informative comments. If Cipha Sound can be exposed at all to what it means to have a voice in a community he certainly can learn from you.

  11. Haitian enterprises and people. Just cancel all your advertisment in that media. Learn them to respect us. They need us and we don't. This is too much.

  15. Guys, I do agree and understand all the points and the battle you engage in to do this or that. What is the next step after we win that battle? Come on guys I am haitian living in Haiti. Even if we win that battle we also have to engage the same battle against Haitian in Haiti specially the leaders. If we look at:

    1) Elections
    2) Thousand of million dollars are donated, Haititans still live in garbage can
    3) etc, etc, etc, many to say.

If we do not fight against those sort governements and people to have good representative. Come on ! you wil always and always have to fight against a Cipha or whoever.

Take the issues to its roots, not to its results. There is a guy that said something true: Cipha would not ever said such thing agains the Jewish. Why, wouldn't he say? probably the answer is because they are RICH, no, being rich is one of the reason, but, organized, respectful and respected etc.

Please, unite those 1 million people you talked about to force the government to organize a good election.

Unite those multi million people to say: It is time for Haitians living under the tent after Jan 12th to leave the camps and find a better place

Unite those multi million people to make other explanations of where the 197,000,000.00 USD and Petro Caribe funds passed.

Please do not unite a task force just for one regretable Cipha. Come on Guys. jcorantin@yahoo.fr

  16. As Haitians in the Diaspora, we have no respect. Their perception of Haitians is real discriminatory. The reason, is because we have no leaders in our community to stand with us in the gap. 4 instance Home Depot just detroy a minority Business giving jobs to over 250 haitans a day because the owner is Haitian as Home Depot said it in HR meeting, "WE DON'T WANT HAITIAN IN OUR MIX in front on a Haitian woman who started to cry. On you Tube
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej_gW3aheLk
or type: the plight of a minority business and on Google: Haitian Business Crushed--Not by Earthquake, But by Home Depot Haitians must stand up 4 a new 20 Avril.
    Togheter we are Strong

  17. When we became independent we surprised the whole world. Since then, most Nations saw us as a threat to the World as we could instigate revolts amongst blacks and opressed in other countries. Those anti freedom Nations decided then that HAITIANS should be crushed for ever. So this lack of consideration is not new and will persist unless we stay up. They gave us CHOLERA. God knows what other diseases they gave us. We are used as Guinea Pigs (known and unknown) It's time that we start jumping on the street again under a leadership to maintain our God given human Rights. I'm sorry, let's fight it.

  18. Total ignorance...he's just jealous they wont give it up to him

  19. we as haitian have to react to this idiot coment this enough need to stand to hot 97 to fire this idoit or we fire hot 97

  20. Can't we ignore These idiots!!! !!! ! The best way to fight back is to make a phone call, and as the dummy who said that. Why is he trying to show how stupid he is on public radio? With his stupid hateful comment. does he know what he will die of. At least their is a cure for aids. They are jealous, anyone who is educated, who hears this sort of talk, know that only a fool can talk like that. Because of the successful Haitians who come hear and do fairly well for themselves. Only a blockhead would say such an idiotic thing. only a very jealous fools, who want other to think badly of Haiti. We must treat them as so. I mean How can one country carry the burden, of a decease that was created in a laboratory. Even if some Haitians did have that decease it is, an international world wide spread decease, and everybody knows that. In addition, Does He even know what it means to be a Haitian. Does he know that Haitian, are hard working people, who if it were not for Haiti taking some steps in the pass many of them would not be enjoying the freedom of living in the America today. There are people world wide who love and respect Haitians. The guy is obviously an an uneducated, idiot. Who probably could not easily take ,a well bought up very pretty Haitian girl to bed, so he is frustrated, That's all Haiti, has much more to celebrate, than to pay attention to silliness. with all those who came to help Haiti, from across the globe, Haiti is loved. Let the Lord our God defend us. Besides, That idiot is probably sleeping with the enemy Haitians. he has obviously been missed informed. We have more important work to do, together with those who care about human concerns, to help rebuilt Haiti. Many people have there blood line running out of Haiti. Haiti is an international country. We have better things to care about every body has enemies. Some people may not like Haitians. So what, it does not make it right to say mean things about an whole country, we know that. Haitians, need to think positive about Haiti's future. Now that is a good start. Rather than to pay attention to imbeciles. People deal with Haitians everyday, they know that is not a true statement. What kind of God do they think we believe in an unjust God who would just give that type of illness just to one group of people. So they may have used Haiti for there ginipig experiment. But unfortunately for those who have died and suffered, from that horrible illness. People who may or may not have had lived a promiscuous life style, was still a lost, a very sad thing. It is no laughing matter to be made fun of on radio, station. Anyone who may have lost love ones from that illness knows that. God loves Haiti, God bless Haiti, the Haitian people, and all those who suffer from any kind of deadly deceases. May God bring healing to the human race. Peace on earth. (HAITI WE CANNOT CARRY OUR FEELINGS ON OUR SLEEVE, WE MUST, TREAT FOOLS LIKE FOOLS. BY IGNORING THEM, AND CARE ABOUT, HELPING HAITI, and others TO SURVIVE.) WE ARE TO ONLY PRACTICE LOVE, SEE GOOD, AND DO GOOD. Let's have a Mary Christmas and a Happy New year, peace and good will to all. Let's thin of doing great things to help the human race move forward. Not hate, but love and peace.
